I started fishing the waters of the Albemarle Sound as a young boy. My grandfather
was a commercial fisherman on the Pasquotank river and the Albemarle sound. My
dad was also an avid angler. He had a 25 foot fishing boat that we fished the
Albemarle Sound, Currituck Sound and Pasquotank River areas of Northeastern,
NC every weekend chasing stripers, white perch, flounder and croaker. Growing up
on these waters with my family and friends is what lead me to wanting to share the
experience with others.
In my teens I discovered the offshore waters of North Carolina and Virginia. I
commercially and recreationally mated on these waters for seven years. That is
where I met "Sea Bear" Eddie, an offshore fishing captain. I still fish with Eddie
from time to time as a mate when my customers want a deep sea trip. Captain
Eddie is the best king mackerel angler I have ever met.
The Boat
In buying a boat to fish the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Albemarle Sound and
Virginia Beach coastal waters, I picked a 22 foot walk-around. The boat is big
enough to fish both shallow and deep water, and can be very easy to maneuver
pilings, bridges and structures where the fish like to hide.
